Emilie and Tyler’s Wedding, Huron Substation, Downtown Los Angeles

A lot has already been said about Emilie and Tyler’s fantastic wedding at the Huron Substation in downtown Los Angeles.  This wedding was recently featured on Style Me Pretty, but I wanted to post my own blog entry since there were so many quirky and original details that this couple chose for their wedding (coordinated by wedding planner extraordinaire, Amanda Ma, of Pasadena-based Fresh Events Company).  I really loved capturing the vibrant colors, as well as the artsy and engaging personalities at Emilie and Tyler’s wedding!

Here were some of the other vendors who contributed to their day:

Ceremony and Reception: Huron Substation

Catering and Wedding Cake: Auntie Em’s Kitchen and Catering

Hair and Makeup: Mieko with Kelly Zhang Makeup

Videographer: Cloud 9 Cinematography

DJ: Red Shoe LA

Rentals: Town & Country Event Rentals

Photobooth: DG Event

Lauren and Ryu, Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena

For Lauren and Ryu’s wedding, over 300 guests came from near and far (including a large group from Japan) to witness them tie the knot in the Horseshoe Garden at the Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena.  I probably say this every time I work with her, but Amanda Ma of Fresh Events did a phenomenal job coordinating all the logistics of the day!

There were so many details that I loved about this wedding, I don’t even know where to begin…  First, Lauren was a gorgeous bride (hair by Meiko of Kelly Zhang Studio) and I adored her dress and birdcage veil.  Her flowers were also stunning- I loved the addition of feathers in the bouquets by M’s Flowers.  Lauren is a designer and designed all the amazing graphics (invitations, programs, etc.).  Another fun detail was that Lauren and Ryu had their family and wedding party participate in an on-the-spot music video (filmed by Kyle and Julie of Elysium Productions) that they showed to their guests during the reception.  After the ceremony, guests moved into the Huntington Ballroom and were treated to an energetic Japanese taiko drumming performance by theTaiko Project (the bride’s sister did double duty and also performed as a drummer).  Later, the wedding party had some fun of their own by performing coordinated dances to songs by Lady Gaga and Michael Jackson.  One of my favorite moments of the day was when the groom played the piano and sang a song to his new wife- there wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd!

Lora and Frank’s Wedding, Blessed Sacrament, Hollywood, & the Marvimon, Downtown Los Angeles

Both Lora and Frank have larger than life personalities.  Lora is artistic, hilarious, and gregarious and Frank is probably the coolest surgeon that I’ve ever met, so together they are quite the power couple and their wedding pulled out all the stops.  Lora got ready at the uber-chic Standard Hotel and then headed to Hollywood’s Blessed Sacrament Church for ceremony #1.  After their Catholic ceremony, they headed over to the hip urban loft, the Marvimon, for their second ceremony and reception.  Lora and Frank left no detail behind with thier wedding, from the bathroom decor, to the rotating video of romantic movie scenes constantly playing during the reception.  Ada Chan with Fresh Events did an amazing job pulling all the details together.  One of my favorite details of their wedding was the gigantic print from their engagement session in the front entrance of the Marvimon and the use of her engagement session prints on the interior walls.  The bride’s dress was by Erin Cole Bridal, the flowers were by Holly Flora, and the super-modern cupcake tower was by Leda’s Bake Shop.

Pinyu and John’s Wedding, The Langham Huntington Hotel, Pasadena

One thing I really love about the Langham Huntington Hotel is that it is a truly grand place for couples to get married.  So, fitting of such a venue, Pinyu and John had a very classic and romantic wedding.  In keeping with that theme, Pinyu chose a timeless strapless gown from The White Dress and the color red (in Chinese weddings, the color red is traditional and symbolizes love, joy, good luck, and prosperity) for her bridesmaid’s dresses, shoes, and flowers (flowers by The Elegant Thorn).

Some of my favorite wedding vendors were present, as well: Amanda Ma from Fresh Events, Walter Pawluk was the videographer, and De Bois Entertainment kept the party going at the reception.  All in all, a fantastic wedding!
