Stephanie and Andrew’s Wedding, Los Angeles LDS Temple and La Canada-Flintridge

Because Stephanie and Andrew live in Hawaii, I didn’t get to meet them until the day of their wedding at the Los Angeles LDS Mormon Temple, but their relaxed Hawaiian style and loads of personal touches gave the day such a fun, comfortable feel. Stephanie purchased her gown at Camarillo Bridal, but decided to add her own vintage touches by shortening it and adding sleeves.

Another personal touch was that the bride’s flowers were all done by her mother-in-law, who visited LA’s flower district and put the arrangements together herself.  The reception was held in the backyard of the groom’s parent’s home in La Canada-Flintridge and the food (catered by Smokin’Joe’s out of Simi Valley) was outstanding. I love that Stephanie and Andrew were so laid-back on their wedding that they jumped on the backyard trampoline!

Another fun touch of the day was when Stephanie surprised Andrew with a traditional Hawaiian hula dance – so sweet!

Anna and Ryan’s Wedding, Rincon Beach Club

When I met Anna and Ryan, I felt an immediate connection with them – probably because we share a spirit of travel and adventure (for they’re honeymoon, they opted to go travel around the world for a year and I also travel as frequently as I’m able).  I loved how their wedding at the Rincon Beach Club also reflected their casual elegance (barefoot beach wedding) and love of travel (they named their tables after their future honeymoon destinations). The lovely cake and flowers were by Christine Dahl Pastries and Rincon Floral, respectively.

Tiffany and Brad’s Wedding, Montecito, CA

It’s an honor when a fellow wedding photographer asks you to photograph their wedding, so when Tiffany and Brad asked me to cover their special day, I was naturally very excited.  The couple chose to keep their nuptials private, so for their wedding coverage I went to an estate in Montecito for the day to capture the bride’s preparation, their portraits, and all the beautiful details.  Here’s a little bit of what I captured:

Pinyu and John’s Wedding, The Langham Huntington Hotel, Pasadena

One thing I really love about the Langham Huntington Hotel is that it is a truly grand place for couples to get married.  So, fitting of such a venue, Pinyu and John had a very classic and romantic wedding.  In keeping with that theme, Pinyu chose a timeless strapless gown from The White Dress and the color red (in Chinese weddings, the color red is traditional and symbolizes love, joy, good luck, and prosperity) for her bridesmaid’s dresses, shoes, and flowers (flowers by The Elegant Thorn).

Some of my favorite wedding vendors were present, as well: Amanda Ma from Fresh Events, Walter Pawluk was the videographer, and De Bois Entertainment kept the party going at the reception.  All in all, a fantastic wedding!

Darra and Matt’s Wedding, Temescal Gateway Park, Pacific Palisades

Darra and Matt were such a great couple to work with- they both have such a positive energy and warmth which made their wedding a lot of fun to photograph. They are also very committed to local and environmental issues, so their outdoor wedding in Temescal Gateway Park reflected their ideals, from their colorful farmer’s market flower bouquets (designed by Meg of La Partie Events, who also did an amazing job coordinating the wedding), jewelry that Darra designed for her bridesmaids, down to the local honey they gave their guests.

You can always tell the priorities of the couple by the vendors they select and I have to say that the food was hands down the best food I’ve ever had at a wedding (and that’s saying a lot since I’ve photographed a ton of weddings). It was catered by Animal Restaurant and Huckleberry did their impressive dessert bar- all I can say is “Yum!!!”

7 Studio Maternity Sessions, Pasadena Studio

I love photographing maternity sessions. I find it so wonderful to capture the transformation that a woman’s body experiences during her pregnancy.  Maternity sessions are usually captured in the quiet of my Pasadena studio and are so calm (especially when compared to my children’s portrait sessions and weddings). They’re a great way to connect on a completely different level with my clients and capture the range of emotions they’re experiencing.  Here are a few images from seven of my most recent maternity sessions:
