Portrait Sessions, Seattle, WA

Because I grew up in Seattle and still visit fairly often, a while back I started getting frequent requests to bring my equipment up there for portrait sessions and it’s now become a regular event for me to go there and do a series of portrait sessions while in town.  I’m thrilled with this arrangement, since it allows me to visit family and friends without missing out on work while I’m there.  Despite some bad weather, I had a great time photographing all of these cuties (including some of my adorable nieces and nephews):

Michelle and Eric – Santa Barbara Mission and Bacara Resort, Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara is one of my favorite places to work- the light has a quality to it that is just magical and I love the laid-back feel of it, too.

Michelle and Eric were married at the historic and iconic Old Mission of Santa Barbara, and the reception was held at the luxurious Bacara Resort.  From the weather, to the bride, to the ballroom, it was a beautiful day all around and 5th Avenue Music kept the guests rocking well into the evening!

Connie and Adam- Destination Wedding, Dreams Resort, Cancun Mexico

Most people don’t like to travel for work, but I really can’t complain when clients ask me to photograph their weddings in places like the Mexican Riviera (or Mayan Riviera).   It was such an honor to capture their special day, along with an intimate group of family and friends who gathered there from around the world.  From a photographic perspective, it’s always nice to be in a new location, and it helps when everything is so vibrant and colorful!

Something else that was fun and exciting about Connie and Adam’s wedding was shooting their “Trash the Dress” session on the beach.  For those not familiar with the concept, the bride and groom purposefully “trash” the dress after all the formality (and stress!) of the wedding is finally over.  It was a blast and so much fun to capture!

Portrait Sessions, Atlanta, Georgia

I often travel to Seattle and do a series of portrait sessions and this year, my sister Tina helped set up several portrait sessions while I was visiting her in Georgia.  Here are some favorites from my trip, including some adorable photos of my niece and nephews – I guess I’m allowed to say that about my own family!

Featured Article on Photographik!

I’m excited to announce that an article I wrote has been published on Photographik, which is an excellent website dedicated to wedding and portrait photography.  The article I wrote is geared towards couples getting married (aptly titled, “Tips on Getting Great Wedding Photos”).

If you’re getting married, or know someone who is, be sure to check it out!

Joyce and Brandon – The Ebell Club of Los Angeles, Downtown

Joyce and Brandon are both so easygoing and adaptable, so their wedding was so much fun for me to photograph. It was an incredibly smooth wedding, due in large part to Joyce and Brandon’s unflappable attitudes, as well as the organization of Melissa Allen and Teddi Dysart of The Ebell of Los Angeles, who ran the event flawlessly.  The Ebell Club, with its rich history, sets the scene for a timeless event, and Joyce and Brandon chose details in line with this theme, including classic red roses from City of Commerce Flowers, breathtaking ceremony music fromAlcantara Music, Joyce’s classic updo from Studio M, and an elegant cake from Hansen’s Cakes
